After deciding to walk separately but remain emotionally connected, Raman and I quietly held on to a thread of faith. Though our families had clearly refused, somewhere in our hearts, we hadn’t let go completely. Without any spoken promises or plans, we both began seeking help from a higher power—God became the only hope in our story.
Raman started fasting on Mondays, a day dedicated to Lord Shiva. I began my fasts on Fridays, praying to the Goddess Lakshmi for our Love. We never discussed this with each other at first—it was as if the prayers rose from within, synchronised by love.
In July 2012, Raman went on a pilgrimage to Amarnath Yatra, one of the most sacred journeys for Lord Shiva devotees. While standing at those snow-covered heights, he offered prayers for our togetherness. As he folded his hands, eyes closed, tears hidden in the cold breeze—something unusual happened. A feather of a pigeon floated down and rested near him. At that altitude, where even humans struggle to breathe, seeing a bird was almost impossible. He took it as a divine sign—Lord Shiva had blessed his wish.
In March 2013, I also went to Mata Mansa Devi Temple to tie a knot for our togetherness. I remember the way I cried in silence in front of the Goddess—pleading for just one miracle that could unite us. When I stepped out of the temple that day, my phone rang. It was Raman. After weeks of silence, his voice cracked as he said, “Papa is thinking to approach someone to mediate again for our marriage…”
I stood frozen. A moment later, another call came in—this time from my father. His voice was calm but surprised, “Chadda uncle approached me regarding your and Raman’s relationship…”
Within minutes, the silence that had filled our world for months was broken—not by us, not by logic—but by faith. It was as if the universe had aligned in that very moment. The gods we prayed to had listened. Two calls. Two parents. And a door, slightly opened, just when we thought we were walking away forever.
It was a game-changing moment, one that defied logic and revived the impossible.
We still had storms to face, but now… we had a direction.
